The former Mets manager, who now doubles as Stamford's Director of Public Safety and an ESPN baseball analyst, took to the streets Thursday morning and served as a traffic cop near an I-95 on-ramp.
Valentine, a Stamford native who was named to the public safety post earlier this month by Mayor Michael Pavia, directed traffic near the on-ramp at exit 8.
Traffic getting on and off the highway was particularly hectic throughout the morning in Stamford and Darien. Northbound lanes were shut down completely near exit 12 from 4:30 a.m. until about 9:30 a.m., resulting in a traffic nightmare that extended for several miles.
